ABOUT PLAY2GROW
Building confidence,
skills and opportunities through play.
Play2Grow was founded to help children develop confidence, coordination, friendships, and life skills through play-based soccer.Inspired by a belief that every child deserves the opportunity to play, learn, and grow, our programs focus on more than sports. We create positive environments where children build confidence, develop character, and discover their potential. As Play2Grow grows, so does our commitment to creating opportunities for children and communities that may not otherwise have access to them. When you join Play2Grow, you become part of something bigger.

OUR STORY
Play2Grow was founded by Kofi and Ali, two individuals who believe deeply in the power of sports to shape a child’s confidence, character, and future. Soccer first brought them together on a community field in Ghana, where they volunteered as coaches and support staff for local youth programs. Through those experiences, they saw firsthand how a simple game could help children develop confidence, build meaningful relationships, and believe in their potential.
For Kofi, soccer has been part of life since childhood. Growing up in Ghana, one of his earliest fun memories was drawing soccer cleats and socks with chalk long before he ever owned a pair of his own. To him, the game represented imagination, possibility, and joy.
Professionally, Kofi built a career in humanitarian and international development, including managing research and education programs at Harvard University. Alongside his professional work, he remained actively involved in soccer as both a player and coach. Through years of working with families and coaching children from diverse backgrounds, including many from underserved communities, he came to see soccer as much more than a sport. It is a powerful tool for teaching life lessons, building confidence, fostering connection, and helping children discover what they are capable of achieving.
Ali shared this same belief in the importance of early experiences and their lasting impact on a child’s future. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and Leadership and is a Teach For America alumna. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about ensuring that all children have access to high-quality learning opportunities and supportive environments where they can thrive.
Today, Ali serves as the Director of Early Childhood Programs at a local nonprofit organization, where she works closely with children, families, educators, and community partners to strengthen early learning outcomes. Her experience reinforced a conviction she and Kofi both shared: when children are encouraged, supported, and given opportunities to grow, they develop confidence that extends far beyond the classroom or the playing field.
Together, Kofi and Ali created Play2Grow to provide the kind of environment every child deserves, a place where children feel safe, supported, encouraged, and excited to learn. A place where effort is celebrated, confidence is nurtured, and every child is given the opportunity to grow.

OUR MISSION
To help children develop soccer skills and life skills in a fun, safe, and structured environment that builds confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
OUR VISION
To build impactful program that helps children grow not just as players, but as confident individuals, while creating opportunities for children in underserved communities.
MORE THAN SOCCER
Every child deserves the opportunity to play, learn, and grow.
Play2Grow was created not only to serve children in the United States, but also to help create a sustainable pathway for supporting children in communities like Makango. When families join Play2Grow, they become part of something bigger. Their child is not only learning, playing, and growing. They are also helping create opportunities for underserved children to experience the same joy, confidence, and possibility through soccer. We believe in building something meaningful together.Play2Grow makes that possible.
